ESR9 - Application of robotics in floating wind operations and maintenance (O&M)

Aims: While the focus of designers lies on methods to assure the structural reliability of FOWTs, there is a lack of thorough review of challenges and opportunities present in the operational phase of these novel concepts. In particular, the potential for robotics in FOWT O&M needs to be investigated. This project will investigate current and future potential usage of robotic technologies to reduce Health and Safety (H&S) risk, reduce cost of O&M and improve turbine reliability within the floating offshore wind sector.

Work package: WP3 - Operation and scalability
